OUR STORY

Pull-A-Part’s story begins more than a century ago, with the entrepreneurial spirit of Morris Cohen, a Russian immigrant who made Atlanta, Georgia his home. In the early 1900s, Cohen founded a scrap metal recycling business that would grow into Central Metals Recycling Company, later expanded by his sons, Bernard and Gerald. Their work laid the foundation for what would become Pull-A-Part — an innovative evolution in automotive recycling and used parts retailing.

A Family Legacy of Innovation

In 1997, the Cohen family launched Pull-A-Part, LLC, opening three locations in the Metro Atlanta area. What began as a family venture rooted in recycling has grown into a nationally recognized leader in automotive recycling and self-service auto parts retailing. Today, Pull-A-Part operates 35 locations across 16 states under the Pull-A-Part and U-Pull-&-Pay brands (U-Pull-&-Pay is a Pull-A-Part company). Members of the third and fourth generations of the Cohen family continue to lead the company forward.

Expanding Our Impact

Beyond used auto parts retailing, Pull-A-Part has become one of the nation’s largest direct-from-consumer car buyers, purchasing unwanted, end-of-life vehicles from individuals for cash. Most locations also offer used car sales, and our newest innovation — part-pulling services — adds convenience to our core do-it-yourself (DIY) model, giving customers the choice to have parts pulled for them for a small fee.

Values That Drive Us

Since opening our doors, Pull-A-Part has been guided by the same values that have defined the Cohen family for more than 100 years:
Teamwork. Respect. Openness. Growth.
These principles continue to shape how we serve our customers, support our employees, and innovate for the future. Our team’s passion and commitment to excellence remain the keys to our success — and the foundation for everything still to come.
