Greetings, viewers. Eric the Car Guy. I'm going to show you a couple of different locations that you'll find computers, either transmission and PCM, on the Honda Accord.
So on older model Accords, the computer is located underneath the passenger floorboard, underneath a cover like this. And somebody has already removed most of the fasteners. Four millimeter nuts around the circumference of this that you can remove, in order to get this cover up. Once you've done that, you may have to disconnect a few electrical connectors to get this far. But this is the PCM, and this is the TCM. From there, all you got to do is disconnect the electrical connectors. There's your transmission computer. Sometimes you can get a screwdriver in here, and push down on these tabs. It'll make it easier to pull them out. Once you've got everything disconnected, there's the computer for the vehicle.
Now, let's check out a newer style. On the '99 through '03 Accords, they're very similar to this Acura TL. And the computer is located behind the center console here, and held down on either side by these 10 millimeter fasteners. Unplug the electric connection, and remove the fastener. Knock them around to the other side, pull the carpet back, and that will expose this side of the computer. And, once again, you have some electrical connections, more on this side. And then one 10 millimeter, right here. This one I'm going to have to get it with a wrench, I can't quite get my ratchet up in here. Once both fasteners are removed, you may find it easier to pull it through the driver's side. If you come out the driver's side, you'll have to work past the pedals.
And there you have it. Computer in an Accord, TL, later models. So there you have it. On these later models, I should point out that the transmission computer and the powertrain computer are both housed in this same unit here. And, on the older ones, they're separated underneath the passenger floorboards. So these are the places that you'll find these computers, and this is how you remove them.
