Hey everybody! Charles for Humblemechanic.com, back with another D-I-Y and drive tutorial with pull apart used auto parts.
Today, I'm going to show you how to remove a mirror assembly on a Volkswagen. The tools you're going to need for this job is going to be a T20 torques and a T45 torques. Now you are going to need to remove the door trim panel for this job. You can check out the other video that I did on how to remove the panel. I've removed the window regulator from this door. You're not going to need to go in that far. Only remove the trim panel to take the mirror assembly off. First thing we need to do is remove the cover for the speaker. This is one T20 torque screw. Next, we pop off the speaker and cover. And you're going to want to disconnect that so that we don't risk damaging it. Next, we want to disconnect the connector for the mirror and lay that to the side. Make sure you pull the foam away from the door. Grab our T45 and take out this one bolt. Now you want to also hold onto the outside of the mirror, just to prevent any accidents. Take your one bolt out. Now the trick here is not to just pull the mirror off the door. You actually want to tip it down and then lift up, and rock the assembly off the car.
All right, guys this is Charles for Humblemechanic.com. Thanks for watching, and I will see you next time.
