How to Remove an Alternator From a Toyota Camry

Pull Tip: If alternator does not easily come out once bolts are removed, you can use a prybar to help you loosen and remove it.

Instructions

  • Print

    Disconnect the negative battery cable (black cable) and position out of the way

  • 2

    Disconnect wiring harness and move out of the way

  • 3

    Remove plastic cover over battery connector and remove 10mm fastener

  • 4

    Disconnect electrical connection by squeezing in on top to release latch

  • 5

    Back off on 12mm bolt to loosen belt and move out of the way

  • 6

    Remove 14mm bolt that pivots alternator

  • 7

    Work alternator back and forth until it loosens and comes off
